Details
A Russian-born painter, Oskar Rabin was one of the initiators of the non-conformist era and a key organizer of the "Lianozovo Group", a collective that developed around Yevgeniy Koprivnitsiy (1893-1979). Soviet material life and its dramatic absurdity were for many years the central theme of Rabin's creativity. He experimented with many genres, including landscape, still life and interiors, continuing the tradition of European Expressionism of the 1920s. Rabin bends the rules of perspective and distorts bodies. A committed artist, he initiated the "Bulldozer" exhibition in 1974, an unofficial, dissident art show.
