Henri Maurice CAHOURS (1889-1954) - Lot 63
Henri Maurice CAHOURS (1889-1954) Sailboat, harbour entrance Oil on panel Signed "H. Cahours" lower left 26 x 18 cm Framed NOTICE French painter Henry Maurice Cahours attended the Beaux-Arts in Amiens. Arriving in Montmartre in 1911, he frequented the Montmartre microcosm and was friends with Marcel Aymé, who wrote a fine text in honor of his work. A painter in the tradition of Albert Marquet, in addition to the streets of Montmartre that he loved to depict, he devoted himself to Breton seascapes; around 1955, he bought a house in Les Petites Dalles, Normandy, where Claude Monet had stayed in 1880. In 1976, the Musée Château de l'Emperi in Salon-de-Provence held a retrospective exhibition of his work, followed by a solo show at the Musée de Montmartre in 1987.
