Delphin ENJOLRAS (1857-1945) Reclining nude Oil on canvas Signed "D Enjolras" lower right 53 x 71 cm Framed (Small chips, minor restoration in lower left corner) PROVENANCE Private collection NOTICE Famous for his intimate scenes of female models in the glow of an inner light, he worked in pastel, oil and watercolor. Nicknamed "the painter of reflections", he studied at the Beaux-Arts in Paris alongside Jean-Léon Gérôme, Gustave Courtois, Gaston Gérard and Pascal Dagnan Bouveret. A successful artist, he became a member of the Société des artistes français in 1901, and was awarded the Palmes académiques for his painting La Mort de Dupleix, acquired by the French state.
