Louis FORTUNE CAR (1905 - 1970) Water from the well, scene from Provence Oil on panel Signed "Fortuné Car" lower right 21.5 x 25.5 cm Framed NOTICE A Provençal painter, he transcribed the landscapes of his region with poetry and talent. Influenced by Impressionist artists, he depicts scenes of fishermen, which he paints with a knife and bright colors. His reputation spread beyond the borders of France to Canada, where he became a member of the Académie Royale de peinture de Montréal. His work is exhibited in numerous galleries alongside other Provencal painters such as Jean-Baptiste Olive, Eugène Baboulène, Jean Baltus and Charles Camoin.
