The seats are triangular, resting on tripod legs joined by struts.

Inspired by the work of Swedish peasants in medieval times, these Nordic folk-art chairs are traditionally known as "monk's chairs". A similar example is preserved and presented in the collections of the Nordiska Museet in Stockholm.
