NOTICE
Leopoldo Janesich opened his first store in Trieste in 1835. Originally from Croatia, this silversmith's apprentice soon began creating silverware to suit the tastes of a wealthy and demanding clientele. His clientele consisted mainly of noblemen, bankers, merchants and shipowners who frequented the Capo di Piazza, the social and cultural meeting place of the time.
Later, Leopold turned to jewelry until his death in 1880. His son Giovanni Battista Janesich took over the management of the company and opened a branch in Paris at 19, rue de la Paix. Here, he sold gems and pearls wholesale, supplying Bulgari and Settepassi in Italy, and Vever, Boucheron and Chaumet in France. Tiffany also bought pearls.
The 1920s and 1930s mark a particularly rich and fruitful period for the company, which excels in the production of jewelry and accessories in the Art Deco style. Major collaborations with talented designers - including Alfred Langlois - ensured the success of the firm, which had specialized in decorative cases since its origins.
Alberto Janesich (third generation) specializes in precious stones. In this way, Janesich develops its relationships with major French and international brands.
Other boutiques are opened around the world, notably in London and Monte Carlo.
