Maison Puiforcat was founded in 1820 by Emile Puiforcat, Joseph Marie Puiforcat and Baptiste Fuchs. Emile Puiforcat registered his maker's mark in 1857, which has remained unchanged over the years. He is based at 18 rue Chapon in Paris.
The silversmith died in 1883, but his hallmark was used until 1927.
