Henri-Victor WOLVENS (1896–1977) - Lot 4
Henri-Victor WOLVENS (1896–1977) Still Life with Scales and Fish Oil on canvas Signed "H V Wolvens" lower right 50 x 60 cm Framed (Two small perforations, chips, cracks) DESCRIPTION Trained at the Académie de la Grande Chaumière and under Henri Ottevaere, Henri-Victor Wolvens developed a body of work marked by a quest for light. His art gradually brightened under the influence of major figures such as Van Gogh, William Turner, and James Ensor, with whom he would become friends. The discovery of Bruges’s light marked a decisive turning point in his artistic career. The quality of his work has been honored by several retrospective exhibitions, notably at the Musée d’Ixelles in 2015 and during the “Summertime” exhibition held in 2019 at the Group 2 Gallery. THIS LOT WILL BE DELIVERED TO THE DROUOT STORE AFTER THE AUCTION; IT WILL NOT BE ELIGIBLE FOR RETURN. Please refer to the auction house’s terms and conditions regarding lot pickup before bidding.
