Jean KRILLÉ (1923–1991) - Lot 46
Jean KRILLÉ (1923–1991) Landscape Oil on panel Signed "Krillé" lower left 99 x 120 cm Framed DESCRIPTION At the age of 16, he enrolled at the Zurich School of Fine Arts, then at the School of Arts and Crafts in Vevey. In 1945, he moved to Paris for five years, where he furthered his studies at the École nationale des Beaux-Arts and, at the same time, frequented the Saint-Germain-des-Prés of the existentialists—the circle of Prévert, Sartre, and Le Corbusier. His early works included book illustrations, lithographs, posters, drawings, and press reports. An avid traveler, he was particularly drawn to Africa, where he put his diverse talents as an architect, painter, and reporter to use. In 1964, he left for the United States, where he spent several years, which explains the presence of his works in numerous American museums. He devoted himself primarily to landscapes, inspired by real-life views. Bordering on abstraction, he works with vivid colors, which are also found in his still lifes. THIS LOT WILL BE SENT TO THE DROUOT STORAGE FACILITY AFTER THE AUCTION; IT WILL NOT BE RETURNED FOR REVIEW.
