Alberto FALCHETTI (1878–1951) - Lot 49
Alberto FALCHETTI (1878–1951) Fortified Landscape Oil on panel Signed "A. Falchetti" lower right 28.5 x 17 cm Framed DESCRIPTION Trained in the family studio in Caluso, Alberto Falchetti quickly attracted attention at the Turin and Milan Salons, developing a sure sense of color and observation. From his teenage years onward, his works were exhibited at the Promotrice in Turin, where he stood out for the finesse of his drawing and the accuracy of his compositions. Interested in plein air painting, he gravitated toward Italian Divisionism, influenced by Giovanni Segantini and his contemporaries, though he did not adopt a strictly pointillist style. His painting retains a classical style, where light and color are treated with subtlety and naturalness. Through his travels in France, England, and the Middle East, he enriched his pictorial repertoire, exploring landscapes, scenes of daily life, and still lifes with a particular sensitivity to atmosphere and texture. Throughout his career, Falchetti participated in major art events: the Venice Biennale, and the Milan and Turin Salons, where his works were often praised for their balance between technical rigor and expressive freedom. His favorite themes—Alpine landscapes, rural scenes, Italian coastlines, and intimate compositions—reveal a mastery of light and an ability to convey the emotion of places and moments. Highly prized by collectors, his paintings reveal a keen observation of reality and a mastery of light that lend each scene a singular presence and harmony.
